Greetings from the Bayou in Louisiana! That is where I am this weekend for the wedding of some dear family friends of mine.
I lovethe Gospel this weekend. It includes the reconciliation of Saint Peter who denied the Lord three times during the Passion. Now Jesus allows him after the Resurrection to proclaim his love for Jesus three times. It is a beautiful scene. It also takes place after Peter says a famous line in Scripture, “I am going fishing.” This is Peter being very human and we can all relate. When we are frustrated, overwhelmed, or just need a break, we can turn to healthy hobbies and things we enjoy doing. Jesus meets Peter while he is doing what he loves. Many times, I have found great peace shooting hoops or out on the golf course. Do you have a healthy hobby or past time? It could be knitting, writing, acting, singing, playing a game or an instrument, painting, collecting baseball cards or playing cards. Maybe it is cooking or going to a museum. I do think they are very important. Something that gets us active mentally or physically. These hobbies can connect us to others a lot of the time and the best activities usually create something, even if it is just a happy memory. I know May can be a very busy month. Maybe that makes it even more important to rekindle or start thinking about a new hobby or activity you might like to try. Follow what makes you happy and at peace and Jesus will meet you there. One more thing – watching TV by yourself is NOT a healthy hobby.
Taking our cue from this weekend’s Gospel about the healing of Saint Peter and his experience of the loving mercy of God, I also would love to invite you this month to experience the healing power of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. If you haven’t gone to Confession in a while, be not afraid! It is a wonderful way to encounter the unconditional love of God and be reminded of your goodness. We have confessions every Saturday from 3 to 4:30 PM, but myself or any priest would be happy to celebrate forgiveness with you any time.
God love you!
Fr. Matt

Join us at 10 AM every Sunday to honor our Blessed Mother by praying the Rosary! Especially during the month of May, please pray with us!
Join us this Spring to learn how to grow your own salad greens.
Start your own "instant" garden that you take and set up at home.
We provide containers, potting soil, and starter plants at no charge!
Lettuce, kale, spinach, chard, etc.
This is a “cutting” garden, meaning you start harvesting within a few weeks, and keep cutting salad leaves until the summer heat hits hard.
Then restart your garden in September.
All you need is water for the garden and scissors to cut your greens.
